Oranges, lemons, grapefruits, limes

WHICH INGREDIENTS ARE PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR AN INFUSED WATER?

Classics in the preparation of infused water are in particular:

  • Lemons
  • Oranges
  • Cucumbers
  • Ginger
  • Mint

However, all other types of fruit and vegetables, flowers, herbs and spices are also suitable for preparing flavored water. With the exception of bananas, which unfortunately do not cut a good figure in water.

Just follow your mood. If you like fruity notes, use fewer vegetables and more fruit instead. If you like it sour and/or bitter, then citrus fruits with or without peel are a good choice. If you fancy something spicy, then chilli or red pepper are ideal for your flavored water. Try something new every now and then and find the ingredients and combinations that suit you best. Whatever tastes good is allowed. And remember: sometimes the most obvious is not necessarily the most exciting! Stay curious.

Tip 2:
Use bowls and kitchen scraps

Even the leftovers from peeling and cutting fruit and vegetables are perfect for infused water. You certainly won't win a beauty contest with it, but it will still taste good.

Tip 3:
2 - 4 different ingredients make a perfect infused water

In order to be able to taste them individually, you should not add more than 2-4 different ingredients to your flavored water.

Tip 4:

Please remember: dry ingredients (e.g. spices such as cinnamon sticks, cloves or star anise) need to infuse for longer to release their flavor into the water.

Tip 5:
Tap water gives you a sustainable, refreshing drink

Any water is suitable for preparing your infused water, whether tap or spring water, carbonated or still. However, tap water is not only cheaper than spring water, but also more ecologically sustainable. In addition, it is always checked in this country and is therefore of very good quality.

Tip 6:
Tea instead of water

If you want to try something different, you can also simply use a freshly brewed herbal or fruit tea instead of water.
This tastes like iced tea, but without the sugar. Or you can use refreshing coconut water to give your infused coconut water an exotic touch. Be creative!
